Raw
Growing up on the shores of Lake Michigan, an ocean of the Midwest, looking out at this endless sea was a way to look through yourself to the expanse of possibility and be alive in the reality of the weather that blew up the shore. The worse, the better.
This song was started ages ago, like so many, but pulled out and finished this week. Though when something is so new it is hardly finished until it is battle tested on the stage… which begins at the show 7/18/10
Lyrics:
I feel raw, and exposed, to the life that claws & goes,
Held under heels of existence.
Wind off the water, slaps life in my bones
Howling a dare to live a life you truly know.
The words in your eyes speak the heart that tries to hide,
From the clash of emotion that tempts you.
Will you wait for the sun or choose to make it shine
How can you live if you’ve never loved at all?!
chorus: I feel raw, I feel bold,
I’ve got nothing more to lose but the fear to lose it all
Strip away what makes you feel old
Take my hand, we’ll discover we’re free… Free to go!
You… me… can… be… let the truth in wonder show
chorus
But I’m dragging the doubt filled by all I don’t know
While the purpose reveals much too slowly
Will I bend in the weather of time as it blows…
Or step into air and live before the fall!
chorus
….Free to go…free to go…let me go!
